As the owner of Lincs Photo, I have been taking photographs since 1985 when the first Minolta auto focus camera came out. my early passion was for motor sport, whether it be motorbikes at Cadwell or Rally Cross around the country. Of course when you go away you have to take pictures of the places that you visit so landscapes, buildings and general record shots turned up more challenges and the only way to learn is to understand light and composition so with a lot of reading and practice my images began to improve. Over time I have learnt that photographic skills don't "Happen" you have to work hard to get the most out of a scene and as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day"

Over the years I progressed to having images that were certainly acceptable and even started hanging some on the wall. A new scenario came about in 1988 when my first daughter was born, portrait photography, something new to learn again this photography is a constant learning cycle! I really enjoyed the portrait photography and of course someone has to hold the baby on occasions, so my wife was introduced into the role of assistant. My second daughter was born in 1991 and within a few years I had two very obliging young models, backdrops were purchased, professional studio lighting and props soon followed, Im getting quite good at this I thought! get friends and family in and get more experience so from 1995 I started a small business from home (in the front room) doing portraits for family and friends which soon brought in paying clients, happy days.

I was at a stage now that I thought my images were good enough to sell to the general public so a business name was decided upon and i started (with the help of my wife) attending craft fares with landscape images and a large selection of images from my home city of Lincoln. Being a practical person I had purchased, with the help of funding from my Mother, (what are parents for anyway) frame making equipment so we could now offer a complete service to our clientele.

In 1996 I started The Dunholme Camera Club, a club based in my local village of Dunholme for anyone to join and over the years I have shared the knowledge that I have aquired over the years with the many members who have joined. I am now the Lifetime President of the club and continue to assist in the running of the club, although there are a lot of people who do the hard work now adays.

2006 brought the biggest change to my photographic carrer when I decided to give up the day job and place my full resources into Junior Sport Photography, this entails attending events throughout Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire photographing sporting events both in and outdoors. I then hired studio space in 2012 at a local community centre and a permanent studio was set up which has done very well over the years.

My most recent move has been into Photographic training which I have now been undertaking for about 4 years on a smaller scale to local people, this has been so very popular that I am now extending the training to a larger audience so if you are interested please check out our training page and see if there is something of interest.
